Examples of project activities:
Public opinion poll in Simferopol was conducted in late 1997 – early 1998 regarding the attitude of Crimean people toward different election systems and different mass – media of the peninsula. Its result was published in Crimean and all – Ukrainian newspapers.
Together with the NGO ‘Women’s initiative’ the Center conducted four days long international scientific and practical seminar “The role of NGOs in the development of education in polyethnic societies of Central and Eastern European countries” (December 1997) within the East-East Program, visited by Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Yugoslavian, Armenia,Estonian, Lithuanian specialists.
In December 1997 the Integration and Development Center with the help of the Canadian International Institute of Applied Negotiations organized two workshops, one “Methods of conflict analysis in journalism”, another – “Mediation and conflict resolution” for leaders of Crimean NGOs, mainly NGOs of national minorities.
In 1998 the Center received the East – East Program grant for the conference ‘Cultural Implications of Language in Post – Communist Societies’ (November 24 – 27, Yalta).
Representatives of the Center took part in the First Baltic NGO Forum in Gdansk (1998) and in the workshop ‘Mass Media and national minorities’ in Vilnius (1998).
The Integration and Development Center took part in
organization of the workshop ‘Public relations of non –
governmental organizations’ within the Program ‘Development
of the Third Sector in Crimea’ sponsored by Eurasia Foundation.
Informational Methodological Center for Multicultural
Education and Tolerance
Joint initiative of the Crimean ethnographic museum
and Integration and development center for information and research.
Founded under the financial support of the International
Renaissance Foundation (IRF) within the framework of the "Multicultural
education as the base of the tolerant international relations in
Crimea".
Aim: to popularize the ideas of tolerance, intercultural
education, mutual respect and collaboration of the diverse ethnical
and confessional groups in the Crimean society.
The center objectives: establishment of the resource
base for informational and methodological assistance for development
of a multicultural and ethnic education of the Crimean peoples;
popularization of the cultures and religions of the peninsular,
the ideas of the peaceful coexistence of the diverse confessions
and ethnical groups of the Crimea; exchange of the innovational
educational projects centered around inter-ethnical dialogue and
polilogue proficiency development; informational and methodological
support of revival , preservation and development of the national
languages and dialects; development and distribution of the special
school educational programs, involving the potential of the Crimean
Ethnographic museum and the cultural-ethnographic centers of Crimea;
wide distribution of the practical experience in conflict prevention
and resolution (peer mediation, trainings for NGOs and others).
